New Musik created 3 albums of melodic, accessible, electronic-oriented pop music in the early 80's. A short career compared to some, though longer than many. Modest chart success was achieved.
Unremarkable perhaps, except for the "Musik". Front-man Tony Mansfield galvanised a sound that lives on to this day, as fresh and enjoyable as the very first listen.
This is an unofficial site and is in no way affiliated to any of the band members, however it has now been going for several years and has developed into probably the most definitive source of information about the band and its releases. For information on Tony Mansfield's work outside New Musik, the best starting point is Jonas Warstad's Tony Mansfield site. There were a couple of good discussion groups on yahoo for New Musik and Tony Mansfield, but they have pretty much died a death now, largely replaced by the more recent Facebook Group.
Hopefully this site will bring back a few memories for fans, and continue to act as a collecting point for material on the band. Hence I'd welcome feedback, pics, articles, info etc (special thanks to Richard M, Yuji, Nick E and Steve & Tim Masson for contributions).
And if any of the band do read this, it would be great to hear from you....Graham G
Please note: though it's great to see some of the exclusive pictures/info on this site starting to proliferate on the web, (keeping the New Musik legacy alive is the prime aim of this site), we would ask you at least provide a credit/link to the site before you use the carefully prepared/scanned said items. Thanks. :)
